Bitcoin Era review: scam warning, and what this site is now
Last updated: 3 October 2026
Short answer. The “Bitcoin Era” auto-trading software advertised online is not regulated by any major authority and has been flagged by a regulator. Do not send it money. This website, bitcoinera.com, now belongs to an independent publisher and runs something else: a free crypto bot challenge with virtual money only.
What Bitcoin Era claimed to be
Bitcoin Era was promoted as an automated trading robot: deposit a few hundred dollars, switch the bot on, and let an algorithm trade crypto for you. The ads promised high daily returns, little effort and no experience needed.
The regulator warning
In December 2020, the Securities Commission Malaysia added Bitcoin Era to its Investor Alert List, describing it as a possible clone carrying on unlicensed capital market activities (source). Independent broker review sites also note that it is not supervised by any top-tier regulator (source).
Red flags to look for in any trading robot
- Guaranteed or very high returns. No strategy wins every day. Anyone promising it is selling something else.
- Celebrity endorsements in ads. Fake news pages featuring famous names are a classic hook for these schemes.
- A deposit before you can test anything. A real tool lets you see it work before your money is involved.
- Unregulated “partner brokers”. Check the broker on your regulator’s register before sending a cent.
- Pressure to deposit more. Calls from “account managers” pushing you to top up are a warning sign on their own.
What bitcoinera.com is today
The domain name changed hands. We kept the name and built the opposite of the old pitch: instead of promising that a robot will make you money, we let you build your own bot and put it to the test on live crypto prices, with a virtual balance of $10,000.
- No deposit, no card, no real money at any point.
- Three levels with public rules: a profit target, a maximum drawdown of -10% and a daily drawdown of -5% (see the rulebook).
- When a bot breaks a limit, you see exactly where the strategy cracked.

Frequently asked questions
Is Bitcoin Era legit?
The original Bitcoin Era auto-trading software is not regulated by any major financial authority, and the Securities Commission Malaysia added it to its Investor Alert List in December 2020. Treat any site that asks you to deposit money into it with great caution. The bitcoinera.com site you are on now is a different project: a free educational simulator with virtual money only.
Is bitcoinera.com the official Bitcoin Era website?
bitcoinera.com is now owned by an independent publisher with no connection to the Bitcoin Era software advertised online. It runs a crypto bot challenge on virtual money and never asks for a deposit.
Did Elon Musk or a TV show endorse Bitcoin Era?
Ads for auto-trading robots like Bitcoin Era have used fake celebrity endorsements and fake news articles. A real celebrity endorsement would be announced on that person's official channels.
How can I test a crypto trading strategy without risking money?
Run it on live prices with a virtual balance. On Bitcoin Era you build a bot, start with a virtual $10,000 and see whether it clears three levels with clear profit targets and drawdown limits.
